Well if you ask me, I will choose brown sugar any time over white sugar, just for its tropical sugarcane flavor. White sugar is the refined sugar with no natural flavor at all. It is so bland that you need to add more of it to get the sweetness. If you ever taste natural brown sugar, you would know how sugar tastes naturally. White sugar is refined using some chemicals and contains formic acid, sulphur dioxide, phosphoric acid etc in addition to preservatives and bleaching agents. Not that all of these would hurt you immediately as you consume them, but they do harm you if taken for a prolonged period of time.
If you go to the store, you may find organic brown sugar to be slightly more expensive than the usual refined sugar. But this extra cost is worth it. Due to the extra natural sweetness, you consume less quantity at a time and hence the pack lasts longer. The little price paid is definitely worth what you get in return.
Switching to brown sugar is easy. You get it everywhere in stores and even in coffee shops. Remember not to heat it too much because that will make it lose its flavor.
