Many people think that preparing onion rings at home is a difficult task, but in reality it is incredibly fun and easy. So today, I would like to share an onion-rings-with-a-twist style recipe. These are famous in India. Here, monsoon season is best time to enjoy these piping hot rings with some afternoon tea. They are also perfect for a party or even as a side dish for lunch or dinner. This recipe is extremely simple to follow and can be prepared in no time. Let's get started.
- 2-3 medium sized onions
- ½ cup water
- 1 cup chickpea flour
- ½ teaspoon chili powder
- ½ teaspoon mango powder
- Salt to taste
STEP 1: Preheat the oven to 300 degrees. Place a baking sheet on the rack. Be sure to keep your oven ready, so that your onion rings will be crisp and perfect.
STEP 2: Now, peel the onions and slice them. Set aside and go on to preparing the batter.
STEP 3: Mix your batter. Take a bowl and add the chickpea flour, chili powder, mango powder, salt and water. Your batter shouldn't be too thick or too thin.
STEP 4: Dip your raw onion rings to the prepared batter.
STEP 6: Lay your battered rings on the tray and then pop them into the oven. Check them every five minutes or so and bake until golden brown.
Serve your crispy hot onion rings with ketchup, chutney, vegan barbecue sauce, or mustard.
