Yes, summer is over and school is back in session! Time to pack school lunches again! Kids can be picky eaters! If you send a lunch each school day with your picky eater, I believe you will find these ideas interesting.
- Fruit Shish Kabobs: Skewer bite size fruit pieces on toothpick. Alternate the fruit on each skewer, as kids love the eye appealing colors. Grapes, pineapple, canteloupe, berries are all great suggestions for the shish kabobs.
- Dip Style: Kids love dips with fruit and raw vegetables. Kids love Nutella with apples. Carrots and celery cut into sticks are excellent for dipping into guacomole or hummus.
- Sandwich Style: Kids enjoy veggie or meat substitute sandwiches served as wraps, or on bagels or pita style. Sandwich bread cut into neat shapes with cookie cutters are also a kid pleaser.
- Thermos Ideas: Last night's leftovers sometimes carry well in a thermos. Some thermos companies have combined a serving cup with a spoon in the lid. Please consider that by lunch most thermos items are luke warm at best.
- Dry Ice Packs: Dry ice will keep cold meals cool. Always purchase two and leave one in the refrigerator, while sending the other one in the lunch box.

The thermos is great for fun drinks, too. Making a kid lemonade for lunch with a peanut butter sandwich and apple slices will be heaven! Voted! My new piece is They Say It's Misplaced Pride. Looking forward to reading your comments!

Love this blog.. will share. Funny that this is a topic I am covering this week at my nutrition school IIN. I wish the school lunch programs would offer vegetarian and vegan meals for the children that eat this way. It is a growing way of eating and more people in the food industry- lunch programs, restaurants and such need to get with the this program. Besides it sets a good example to the other children to eat more balanced, in moderation and healthier lifestyle. Not to convert them- but to get them thinking of eating more fruits and veggies over animal products and junk food! -thanks again, lovely lady for helping me administrate my wall, it is always GREATLY APPRECIATED! :-D
-
btw.. to those possibly concerned.. Nutella is not a Vegan product.

#12. These are good ideas. As a kid, I would have liked the scewing. In my school days, if you bought in whole wheat bread or peanut butter and jelly...you were everyone's enemy that day. They bullied you to no end. I think that this is one of the reasons why kids are so picky about their lunches. We all take the bullying seriously and no one wants to be on the receiving end of being bullied.....Looks like this is on the top page soon!

Hi, no offense , but Nutella has dairy and palm oil in it.
-
Nutella has skim milk in it ... it is NOT a vegan food. Just thought you might want to know that!
