Smoky Maple BBQ Sauce

Smoky Maple BBQ Sauce

This BBQ sauce is quick to throw together and mixes the sweetness from the maple syrup with the spice of smoked paprika to give it the perfecto combination of flavors. It's a household favorite for us and can be thrown together last minute or left overnight for the flavors to really mix and mingle! Best of all, it doesn't need a blender or food processor like many of the BBQ sauce recipes do. 



  • 1 1/2 Cups Tomato Sauce
  • 3 Tbsp Maple Syrup
  • 1 Tbsp Molasses
  • 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • 2 Tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 tsp Chili Powder
  • 1 tsp Smoked Paprika
  • 1 tsp Dried Oregano


Combine all the ingredients into a mixing bowl and mix thoroughly. If time allows, let stand for an hour or overnight to really allow the flavors to mix together. Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to a week. If you find that it is not spicy enough for you, try adding a little more smoked paprika and chili powder in equal parts. If you plan on letting it sit for awhile though, you should hold off on adding extra spice until it has really had a chance to sit and marinate in itself. Once it has sat overnight, you may find that it is a bit spicier than when you first mixed it together. 


This sauce is especially good for marinating tofu in! One of my favorite recipes is where I chop up tofu into small chunks and coat all sides with Smoky Maple BBQ Sauce. Allow it to marinate for at least an hour and then bake in an oven at 300 degrees for twenty minutes, flipping them over half way through. I usually serve this with a bowl of steamed rice and broccoli, although you can really mix it with anything. I hope you enjoy!
