Veganism is the best way to protect the environment. Often meat-eaters are unaware of the fact that a lot goes into breeding those animals in the farms. They often jokingly say that they are actually saving the trees by not eating them. But sadly, this is not true.
There are many things that we do to try to save the planet in our own little ways. It could be lesser use of electricity, plastics, recycling stuff, using public transport etc. All these things are important and do make a difference. But what makes a much bigger difference is quitting meat consumption. This might sound impossible to some people. I use to feel the same when I used to think of it. But then one day I decided and do not regret it any day.
If you care about the environment, you must know that meat is not green. This is in fact a campaign run by PETA during Earth week or 'Meat is not green' week from April 20 onwards. It has been declared by United Nation report that there is more greenhouse gases emission from the livestock sector than any of the other sources. 65% of the total nitrous oxide emissions are through meat, egg and dairy industry alone. If we turn vegan, we can definitely take a giant leap towards our goal of saving our planet.
Even if we can't turn suddenly into vegans, we all can cut down our meat intake. By going one step t a time, you can turn into a vegan over the years. And especially when saving the environment is not the only reason to be a vegan. It gives you a long and healthy life too to enjoy your green earth!

Hmm.. Somthing to think over. I wonder sometimes about this fact, in what ways the livestock sector generates the nitrous oxide...anyways. Good story Akanksha! :)
