One of my fondest memories when growing up in a small and boring ghost town in West Virginia was in the hot and humid summertime. Every summer, my father would make his special homemade ice cream. Since it was made from milk, I will attempt to "veganize" it. The main ingredients included milk, ice, and rosewater. Since my father was diabetic, he didn't use sugar in his recipe.
Vegan Homemade ice cream ingredients:
- Soymilk, almond milk, hemp milk, vanilla flavored versions, coconut milk, rice milk or any other vegan milk out there.
- Ice
- Rosewater
You will also need an ice cream maker. Place ingredients in the ice cream maker until the ice is all slushy and white, like Christmas snow. Fill you bowl with ice cream and enjoy.
Nowadays, I have seen this recipe with added ingredients, such as saffron, pistachios, cardamom, ground Madagascar vanilla beans, guar gum, pomegranate, strawberry, mixed herbs, rice starch, or dark chocolate chips. You can be creative and add to the orginal ingredients your favorite flavor. But I will always like the original and simple version as the classic flavor.

Voted. Sounds great, and very few ingredients, just what I like! So is it sweet enough with no sugar? I suppose the rosewater gives it sweetness. I have just posted a recipe, Roast Vegetable Tart with Tapenade: check it out if you have time, and if you like it, please vote!
