Grown-Up Ants On A Log

Kids of all ages love Ants On A Log!  This classic snack is made slightly more saucy in my easy, out-of-the-box adult versions.

By using high quality nut butters, organic celery and a variety of fun toppings, you can take those basic ants up a notch in both flavor and nutrition!

Almond Antics

organic Celery Stalks, washed/dried and trimmed

Justin's Maple Almond Butter

Sliced Almonds

Dried Cranberries

Ants In Paradise

organic Celery Stalks, washed/dried and trimmed

Justin's Maple or regular Almond Butter

unsweetened, large Toasted Coconut Flakes

dry roasted/salted Macadamia Nuts, crushed and spinkled over top of logs

Golden Raisins (or finely diced Dried Mango)

Romantic Ants

organic Celery Stalks, washed/dried and trimmed

organic Chocolate Hazelnut Butter

fresh organic Raspberries (and/or Blueberries)

Hazelnuts, chopped and sprinkled over tops of logs

Candy Ants

organic Celery Stalks, washed/dried and trimmed

Justin's Peanut Butter

dark or semi-sweet Vegan Chocolate chips

Herb Garden Ants

Tofutti Better Than Cream Cheese (herb flavor is best)

fresh Green Herbs, chopped and mixed into cheese (basil, parsley, and chives are great)

squeeze of fresh Lemon Juice for cheese mixture

Sea Salt and Pepper to taste

Dried Tart Cherries or Walnuts placed on top of logs

*You can certainly use a different brand of nut butter than Justin's.  I just LOVE this product and tend to have a jar in my pantry.  However, Justin's also makes single-serving pouches of each flavor, which come in handy for quick snacks on-the-go and you don't have to commit to a whole jar.  Otherwise, use whatever brand suits your fancy!

*Enjoy these fun and festive Ants On A Log ideas and please let me know what crafty combinations you come up with!

Vote no 7. I particularly like the sound of the Herb Garden Ants. And the Ants in Paradise: an unusual topping, I had never thought of pairing celery with sweet foods, must try it some time.
