Jalebi is an Indian dessert that is prepared across the country. This recipe is especially prepared during festivals in India. Though this dish looks a bit difficult it is actually very simple to prepare. You just need a few ingredients and you can prepare this delicious recipe at home. So in this article, I am going to share the simple version of homemade Indian Jalebi. Let’s get started with this authentic Indian dessert recipe known as Jalebi.
FOR THE SUGAR SYRUP:
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of water
½ teaspoon of cardamom powder
½ teaspoon of saffron strands
FOR THE JALEBI:
½ cup of flour
3 teaspoons of sugar
1 cup of lukewarm water
½ tablespoon of vegan yogurt
Oil to fry
METHOD TO PREPARE THE SUGAR SYRUP:
Step 1: Take a vessel and add some water. Let the water boil for 5 minutes.
Step 2: Then add the sugar, saffron strands, and the cardamom powder to the water. Let the mixture cook for some more time, once the sugar syrup is ready, turn off the heat and keep it aside.
METHOD TO PREPARE THE JALEBI:
Step 1: To prepare the jalebi batter, take a bowl and add some water and sugar. Mix it for 2 minutes.
Step 2: Now add the flour, vegan yogurt and stir it. Make sure that you mix it well so that there are no lumps and bumps.
Step 3: Cover the bowl with a cloth and keep it aside for at least a few hours.
Step 4: Now, take some parchment and make a cone out of it. Once the cone is ready you can prepare the spiral jalebi by making small concentric rings. Start from the center and move outwards.
Step 5: Heat some oil in a pan and start making the jalebi with the help of the cone. You can fry multiple jalebis at the same time.
Step 6: Once the color of the jalebis turn golden you can remove them from the pan.
Step 7: Now, put the jalebi in the sugar syrup and remove them after 2 minutes. They would have soaked up the sweet syrup by now. That’s all, your jalebi is ready! Serve them piping hot!
