Anti-Inflammatory Antioxidant Sweet Beet Juice

Prep Time: 3 minutes

Cook Time: 3 Minutes

There are no shortage of wonderful juice recipes online, but very few have been crafted to excellence like this one. I started drinking a very basic version of this recipe a few months back, and have tailored it to meet my tastes and desires.

If you are new to juicing or you have been doing it a while you may already know that juicing green leafy vegetables is one of the best things you can do for your overall health. The nutrients and vitamins present in so many green vegetables are plentiful and provide your body with more vitamins and great things you need than most other foods.

But one big problem with juicing green vegetables is the taste. I am not going to pretend that I like the taste of juiced greens, because the truth is they really do not taste very good to me. And that is why I developed this recipe to include a few different greens, while tasting very sweet and even a bit spicy.

If you are looking for a new juice recipe to try, this is absolutely going to blow your mind. The other thing about this juice, is that several of the ingredients have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant  properties (beets, ginger, chard) so it is a truly healthful drink that I think you will love.

Before we get started though, you may want to tailor this recipe just a bit depending on your personal tastes. I love ginger and can't get enough of it in my juice, but it is definitely a strong taste that is not for everyone. But if you are a fan of ginger, add as much as you want and you will not be disappointed one bit.

Also, you can feel free to substitute the main green vegetable in this juice for anything you like. I prefer Swiss Chard because the leaves are very big and there is a lot of juice in both the leaves and the stems. If you prefer kale or collard greens or spinach though, this recipe will not taste much different if you use those.

The key to this juice and its great taste is the other ingredients though, which is why no matter what greens you decide to add to the drink, you really will not taste them much at all.

 Ingredients: (Yields 1 liter)

  • 1 small beet (with beet greens if you can get them)
  • 1 wedge of purple cabbage (about 1/4 of a medium sized cabbage)
  • 1 lime (peeled)
  • 1 medium apple
  • 4 - 6 large carrots
  • 3 inches of ginger (or as much as you like)
  • 5 Swiss Chard leaves (any color or variety will do)
  • 1 handful of parsley (wrap parsley inside Swiss chard like a burrito for easier juicing)
  • 5 stalks of celery

Add ingredients into your favorite juicer and enjoy over ice! I have found that if you want a sweeter juice, you can simply add more carrots or beets as they are both very sweet when juiced. I personally recommend you try this juice in the morning for breakfast, as it will wake your body up and fill you up with more nutrition than many people get in a week.

You may use red or golden beets based on your preference, but for the best looking juice, I prefer the red ones, which give this juice a deep, dark red vibe that looks and tastes simply wonderful.
