A Letter of Learning!

My children are stressing a bit about in-room parties and the fact that sometimes parents bring meat platters, or stuff with meat stock in it.  So tonight, I wrote a letter (That any of you are allowed to copy and paste and alter if necessary) to the teachers better explaining their food choices and looking for support.  Since it's already hard for vegan/vegetarians as it is...I'm not sure if the teachers are told unless it's a food allergy.  So I figured it was in everyone's best interest to give the teachers a letter.  Enjoy!

Dear Teachers, I hope this letter finds you well! Since we are new to the district, I was not sure if the office shares my children’s food choices because it’s not an allergy. LOL! My children are Pecatarian/Vegetarian, They eat fish, milk, cheese, eggs, but do not eat Beef, Chicken, Pork, stock made from said animals, or anything that has had a heartbeat. (Apparently fish don’t have a heartbeat…..LOL~Go Figure!) This was their own choice to make due to animal rights, ethics and compassion. The children were concerned with in room parties and plates of food made by parents possibly containing meat, or meat stock. It is important to them (and they DO get upset if they found out they ate an animal) that I at least write you a letter directly saying that if it’s an issue by the other parents to not make things with meat in it, to please advise me in enough time so I can also contribute and make something suitable for them to eat. They just don’t want to feel left out of parties because of beliefs. I’d appreciate your support in making the food part of their year a bit easier for them. If you need to reach me for anything, please do! Thank You!

Your youngster requires protein for the correct development and working of his body, including building new tissues and delivering antibodies that assistance fight infections. Without fundamental amino acids (the building squares of protein), children would be substantially more vulnerable to genuine sicknesses.
