If I "fall out" of eating salads for a while, the thought of going back is initially, "Blah, boring, unsatisfying..." but I'm always proved wrong, because salads can be amazing, delicious, satisfying and leave you feeling energized and wonderful. I'm sure a lot of people think that salad dressing can make or break a salad, and I have to say, I agree!
However, lately I've gotten a bit lazy and I grab the single-serving packets of dressing next to the pre-made salads at the store. I try to pick the "healthiest" one, but it usually contains some kind of refined sugar, and god knows what else. I highly recommend trying to make your own dressing. You can store it in the fridge and have it last for a few days to a week+, depending on what is in it.
You bet I'll be making the Deconstructed Sushi Salad with Ginger Dressing tomorrow. If you love sushi, your mouth will probably start to water.
- Poppy Seed Dressing (Seriously, so good!)
- Almond Ginger Dressing
- Avocado Garlic Dressing
- Lemon Tahini Dressing (Lemon + Tahini in dressings is so good!)
- Clementine Wasabi Ginger Dressing
- Soy Ginger Vinaigrette
- Miso Dressing
- Coconut Cumin Lime Dressing
- Oil-Free Sweet Ginger Dressing (Oh my goodness. Pair this with a "Deconstructed Sushi Salad")
- Oil-Free Raspberry Salad Dressing
If you're in a pinch, here are a few things to quickly use as dressing for your salad:
- Squeeze some lemon on top
- Apple Cider Vinegar
- Balsamic Vinegar
- Rice Vinegar
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- Tahini
- Squeezed Lime
If you're making salad to eat later, keep the dressing in a separate container so the salad stays crisp until it is time to eat it. This goes for taking salad on the go with you. Try to keep some dressing in a little container so you don't have a soggy salad by the time you eat it.
