Vacationing Green this Summer

Saving water, energy and reducing solid waste is great for the environment! Many of us recycle our plastic drinking bottles, paper products and etc... Some people are using solar panels and windmills to generate electrical power. Home product manufacturers are designing environmentally friendly products for our homes. So, why not vacation in a "Green Hotel" this summer?

The management of "Green Hotels" are interested in environmental issues. To keep laundry down, "Green Hotels" offer racks to hang towels, sheet changing during a stay at visitor's request and drinking water served at on-premise restaurants upon request. These hotels purchase toilet-tank fill diverters to reduce water usage. Many of the hotels have placed attractive recycling bins in each guestroom.

Nice permanent shampoo and lotion dispensers are chosen over the trial size alternatives. The designers of the guestrooms choose environmentally friendly paints, flooring products and other "green" selections. A benefit of the "Green Hotels" is the positive effect for many allergy prone guests. Many guests are able to sleep better and may receive temporary health benefits from the green environment.

Consider "Green Hotels" when selecting a destination for that next summer vacation. Not only will it benefit the environment and keep the destination beautiful for future generations, but additional health benefits may be realized as well. Type "Green Hotels" into a search engine to obtain a list of environmentally friendly hotels. If you have stayed at a "Green Hotel" please feel free to share the experience in the comment section below.

I do believe in being environmentally friendly and do my part as much as possible ie. drive a hybrid, don't buy disposable plastic bottles and use green products to clean because of my asthma but I must say that when I go to a hotel I want a clean dry towel each and every time I bathe. Yes I know when you dry off you are clean but when I towel dry my hair much of the left over residue (conditioner-because I leave a little in the ends) gets on my body and breaks me out if it isn't cleaned each time. And who would want to use a dirty washcloth? lol

The green hotels leave a card that you can put out letting the staff know if you want fresh towels or not.

Thanks Akanksha! I received an answer to why my article did not make Top Post. I was told that if someone just votes for your article...the article does not count as much and the vote of a new voter to Top Post does not count as much!
