Slap on Vegan Sunscreen this Summer!

You’ve probably got a swing in your step at the thought that summer’s just around the corner, but don’t forget to reach for your sunscreen.

The problem with conventional sunscreen products is that, although you lather them on to protect you from the harmful rays, these products themselves could be dangerous for your health. They often contain ingredients such as oxybenzone and parabens that can disrupt hormones, fragrances that can cause allergies and organ toxicity, amongst others.

Although you can’t skip the sunscreen because that burning yellow globe in the sky is not going to be kinder to your skin, it is in your best interests to choose an organic and vegan sunscreen instead.

Here are some savvy ones to purchase before you next head out into the glorious summer days.

This natural sunscreen has some great ingredients, such as shea butter, coconut-derived substances and other plant-based goodies that will keep your skin safe from the sun without making it turn white! All the sunscreens are vegan and cruelty-free.

The name sounds exotic and pretty, right? Their Healthy Sun Screen SPF 40 Face Cream is 100% natural without containing any chemicals. A blend of minerals, amino acids and antioxidants make it great for skin nourishment and protection.

The California Baby Super Sensitive Broad Spectrum SPF 30+ Sunscreen is vegan and won’t irritate your skin. The bonus is that some parts of the bottle and cap are also partially-recycled, so it’s good for the planet all round. It’s safe for your baby and you, while scoring high points when it comes to being water resistant. Note: If you are purchasing sun products from California Baby, bear in mind that one of their items - the sunscreen sticks - are not vegan as they make use of beeswax as water barriers.

Sometimes you want to score a bit of bronze appeal before heading out to the sun, but make sure your self-tanning cream is healthy. Try Green People Self Tan Lotion that gives parabens, alcohol, and other chemicals a miss, while being gentle enough for use by people who have psoriasis and eczema. The product is certified organic and vegan.

Enjoy the sunny days!
