Quick and Easy Sweet and Sour Noodles.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Sweet and sour sauce is surprisingly easy to make from scratch, and you don’t need to worry about the questionable sodium ingredients that are listed in the store bought version.

This recipe is quick, requires few ingredients and is great for those days when you don’t have a lot of time to cook.

  • ½ cup white vinegar
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • ¼ cup cold water
  • 3 tablespoons ketchup or tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch dissolved in 4 tablespoons of water.

  • 1 package rice noodles
  • 1 L boiled water
  • Drop of oil for frying

In a large bowl, soak the rice noodles in boiling water for 10 minutes, drain and rinse under cold water. The cold water will stop the noodles from cooking any further. Set aside.

In a bowl or measuring cup, combine all sauce ingredients and stir. In a frying pan or wok, heat a drop of oil over medium heat, and add the noodles, and sauce. Stir gently until the sauce has thickened.

Remove from heat and serve with freshly squeezed lime, or sesame seed garnish.
