Looking Good and Feeling Good About It.

I just ventured into the realm of replacing all my beauty products with ones that are cruelty free, in doing this I wanted to continue to use products are natural. Luckily I don't have to change a lot about my make up routine. Which is good because I have complicated skin that likes to break out and needs a little polishing from time to time. I was excited to find Bare Escentuals on the Animal Friendly list on PETA's website. I had already been using bareMinerals Bare Escentuals line for about 2 years. I absolutely love the way that it makes me skin look and feel. Even though it seems expensive at first the products last you for months and I've never met anyone who when they used it properly didn't fall in love with this brand.I also appreciate that when you go into the store they don't give you a make under (thats what they call it) and then let you leave, they make sure you can replicate your make under.

PETA's website did mention that it wasn't a Vegan company and I know that some of their brushes were made with animal fur so I wanted to e-mail them to find out more. I fully appreciated how quickly they responded to my question.

This was there response:

Dear Megan,

Thank you for contacting Bare Escentuals regarding use of animal products. I am happy to answer any questions you may have regarding our ingredient lists, which you can also find on packaging and our website. While most of our products do not contain animal products, we do use Beeswax, Honey and Carmine in some products. If you let us know what specific product and color you are interested in, we can let you know whether it contains one of these ingredients. In addition, we produce a variety of both natural and synthetic hair brushes. The majority of our natural hair brushes are made of Goat hair. Please feel at ease with using Bare Escentuals products. We have never tested our products on animals and we will continue to not conduct animal testing. We also do not work with any manufacturers that do animal testing.

Adrienne Bare Escentuals Beauty Associate Phone: 1.888.795.4747 I'm now also aware that all Bare Escentuals employees are given an handbook about what is in every product so feel free stopping in if you have any questions.

The products I use and LOVE are their Prime Time Foundation Primer, Orginal Foundation, Warmth All Over Face Color, and the Mineral Vail. I am dissapointed that all their blushes at least any ones with shades of pink/red contain carmine. So I'll have to see if theres any other options I like. The masacaras contain beeswax which is also disapointing because I really enjoyed my free sample of the volumizing lash. I will be trying the Flawless Definition Curl & Length which is a vegan option. I'll also be replacing all my eye shadows with bareMinerals once I use up what I have.

I've never tried Bar Escentuals, but i have a lot of friends that love their products. I personally use Mary Kay and they do not test on animals or use animal bi-products in their skin care or make up either. I think a lot more companies are realizing that this is important and taking pride in the fact that they are moving away from using animal in the production of their products.

I'm not sure that I've ever tried Mary Kay, my skin is extremely picky and will break out or get oily with the slightest change in product though. It is really nice to see that so many companies aren't using animal testing. I did get an e-mail earlier this week from PETA about Mary Kay that I think that you may be interested in since they had to be removed from the Animal Friendly list. Hopefully with enough support they will be able to work out the issue and be put back on the list shortly!
