Jasmine-Mint Smoothie

A tea smoothie!? Yes, tea and flowers make excellent drinks and are easy to prepare. Tea is extremely popular here in southeast Asia, so it makes sense that there are both hot and chilled options. Finding exciting combinations and flavours can be a challenge, and this combo of jasmine and mint is inspired by a drink that is served in a café, here in Bali. After tasting this tea-based smoothie, you will feel euphoric. Jasmine does that.

2 cups jasmine tea

½ cup vanilla soy milk (or almond milk)

1 cup ice cubes

5 mint leaves

sugar to taste

Brew the tea, remove the leaves, and chill. Pour all ingredients into a blender and blend until you have a slush. If you don’t like the idea of drinking whole mint leaves, you may optionally use a drop of mint oil, but watch out, it is strong!

Drink this potion when you need to relax.

    I agree, jasmine is wonderful. I've never had it mixed with mint, though, so this is a new one for me. I've seen a lot of tea smoothies in Vancouver, surely because of the vast amount of asians that live there. I never had them because they were always made with milk and extremely sweet syrups, and even when I was still drinking milk, I couldn't finish one - it was too sweet for me. I voted! By the way, I corrected my embarassing mistake for my article, Canada's Federal Elections on November 26th: ABC or Pro-Tories? Although I can't change the article, per se, I did get a message saying that I was wrong and fixed it. There are elections, though, but just for some ridings. And I noticed that you haven't voted yet and am assuming that it is due to my very blatantly obvious error... *blush* Cheers!

    Voted. What a delicious-sounding recipe, I have never heard of tea in a smoothie before! I am all for trying it though, as I am a typical British tea-drinker! Btw, I was inspired by your recent post on making rice-milk to submit a blog, How to Make Your own Cream From Cashews, so please check it out. I believe you said you are allergic to cashews, but you might like to read the recipe, nonetheless!
