Making perfume is so simple, and with the right ingredients, you can create a scent that will keep you from ever buying store bought perfume again.
I’ve been making perfume for about three years now and experimenting has led to some amazing finds! I even make perfume as gifts now for my family and friends.
Store perfumes are filled with artificial ingredients and because there are no real governing laws for labeling perfumes the companies do not even have to list all the ingredients on the bottle. The ingredients in some store- bought perfumes can cause allergic reactions and some even have ingredients that have been linked to cancer,
You can easily make your own perfume with ingredients that you know are safe and you’ll be happy and surprised at how fabulous they smell!
In all my perfumes, I use rubbing alcohol as the base. I use rubbing alcohol because it easily dissolves. Now, when you first spray your homemade perfume on yourself you will get an alcohol smell at first, but that quickly dissipates.
The recipe I am about to share with you includes the essential oil of your choice. I love to use Aura Cacia’s Meditation essential blend, but you can choose the oils that you adore.
If it your first time trying to make your own perfume begin by using less essential oil than you think you need then add from there if you aren’t getting the scent that you are looking for.
Ingredients and Supplies
20 drops of your favorite essential oil
Spray bottle (I use a 1-ounce bottle)
If you want, especially if you are giving the perfume as a gift, you can print off a perfume label
Double sided tape (to put on the perfume label)
1. Take your favorite essential oil and add the drops to the perfume bottle. Top the oil off with rubbing alcohol leaving yourself some headroom in case you need to add more essential oil. Once you get the scent where you want it shut the perfume bottle and shake it well.
2. If you have chosen to add a label print it out and tape it to the bottle.
3. Remember to store your perfume in a dark place, such as a medicine cabinet. Direct light will break down your essential oils.
Have fun experimenting with different oils! In no time, you’ll have your friends asking what the great scent is your wearing and you can share it or keep it your amazing smelling secret!
