7 Ways to Get Ready for Swimsuit Season Naturally

Eating nutritious food and getting regular exercise is the healthiest way to lose weight, but there are several natural vegan friendly remedies that can help you reach your swimsuit-ready body faster.

Water, Water, Everywhere

Drinking enough water is essential for your overall health and for losing weight. Don’t worry about getting bloated. When your body gets used to receiving enough water, it will stop retaining it. This may take up to two weeks. Drink water even when you’re not thirsty. It also helps to eat foods that are high in water such as celery and grapefruit.

Avoid Soda

Even diet soda will cause you to bloat and sweet soda has so much sugar or high fructose corn syrup, you can get your daily calorie count with no nutrition. Prepared fruit juice is also very high in sugar. The best options are iced herb tea, regular tea or coffee and skip the sugar.

A One-day Cleanse

Cleanses with fruit juice are very popular for weight loss, but if not done right, they can be unhealthy even if the juice is full of nutrients. A one-day cleanse will help remove waste from your body without compromising your health. If fresh juice is not an option, try eating only fresh fruits and veggies for one day. You’ll feel full and get enough calories but not too many.

Try Cardio

Cardio exercises burn fat faster than spot-toning such as sit-ups. If you regularly walk, try walking faster. Whatever kind of exercise you do, change it. A new workout every six to eight weeks can help speed weight loss. If you are running short of time and start thinking about skipping your exercises, try doing less. A short exercise session is better than none. If you can’t jog for twenty minutes, do it for ten. If you are really short of time during the day, find something else to eliminate rather than your exercises. Whenever you can, stand instead of sit and take a ten minute walk. This will increase your metabolism even if it’s just a little.

Avoid Refined Carbs

Refined white flower and sugar actually reduce your energy levels in the long run. They may give you an immediate boost, but later in the day you may not feel like doing your regular exercises. If you feel tired, you will want to eat. This doesn’t mean you need to avoid eating between meals. Just make sure what you eat is low calorie and nutritious. Refined carbs are also the stuff you are trying to rid from your body with your one-day cleanse. Stick to whole grains, salads and grilled protein.

Try Foods that Burn Fat

Called negative calorie foods, they aren’t really negative calories, but they require more calories to digest than they contain. They are high in water and fiber and help you feel full as well as providing nutrients. Some foods that you can eat as much as you want are:

• Celery

• Cucumbers

• Pickles, including sauerkraut and kimchi

• Broccoli

• Grapefruit

Grapefruit is included because even though it is not technically a negative calorie food, it is very low calorie, and it contains naringenin that makes your liver break down fat. Studies show that eating fresh grapefruit gives similar results to fasting. The white part under the skin is the best part, but it is bitter and needs to be combined with something else. It can be blended into a smoothie. Packaged grapefruit juice doesn’t give the same results.

Get Enough Sleep

Recent studies have shown a connection between sleep and the appetite controlling hormones leptin and ghrelin. When you don’t get enough sleep, these hormones levels go down making you feel hungry and not satisfied even after you have eaten. Impulse control also gets reduced with lack of sleep, and you know where that leads. It will not be easy to fight the cravings.

Although some of these should be obvious, it's very nice to have a comprehensive list you can go through and almost use as a checklist; very helpful, thank you!
