I am back with another easy recipe that contains, you guessed it, garlic. It is a dish that has just two main ingredients and takes up hardly ten-twelve minutes of your time to be ready. But there is no compromise on its taste. It can be eaten as a snack or be used as a unique filling for a tortilla wrap.
Ingredients: Peas- 1and ½ cups, Garlic- 3 cloves finely chopped, Salt- to taste, Black Pepper powder – ½ tsp, Coriander powder- 1 tsp, Turmeric powder- ¼ tsp, Garam Masala Powder (Optional) – ½ tsp, Cumin- ½ tsp, Oil- 1 tsp
Method: Boil the peas till they are tender and keep them aside after draining out the water. Heat oil in a pan and put cumin in it. As soon as the cumin starts crackling lower the flame and add turmeric powder. Immediately add the chopped garlic and fry it to get its flavor in the oil. After one minute add the boiled peas and season it with all the spices mentioned above. Cover the pan and let it simmer for about 10 minutes. Do keep on stirring in between so that the spices are evenly distributed and absorbed. Your quick and easy garlicky peas dish is ready to be served as a snack or as a wonderful tortilla wrap.
As mentioned in my last post (Garlic: The Wonder Drug) there are innumerable advantages of eating garlic. The green peas also have many health benefits. They are low fat food but are a good source of fiber, protein, vitamins and minerals. Green peas also have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits which in turn are good for the heart's health. Research studies have also shown that their regular consumption is beneficial in blood sugar level regulation and in prevention of stomach cancer.
