Fatburning Fruits

Fruit is the dieter's friend, not only because it is quite low in calories, and contains a lot of fibre and water, but also because there are certain fruits which contain substances which actively help in weight loss. If you are trying to lose weight, eat as many of these as possible within your daily calorie count, either raw, in fruit salads, juices, smoothies, or make a super-slimming salsa! (see Papaya):

Apples: Not only are apples high in fibre, which is beneficial to weight loss, but they also contain polyphenols (also present in green tea) which help the metabolism.

Citrus fruits (lemons, oranges, limes, grapefruits, etc); These are a source of easy energy and contain a valuable amount of Vitamin C, which is scientifically proven to burn fat, as it is a vital chemical used in the body in the process of fat metabolism. Grapefruit is particularly beneficial as it  contains the antioxidant navigesein which can even out levels of insulin in the body, reducing hunger pangs and allowing more efficient fat burning.

Kiwi: This fruit is a good source of magnesium which boosts the metabolic rate and aids digestion.

Banana: Gives energy naturally and contains hunger-curbing fibre. It is also a good source of potassium which boosts metabolism.

Papaya: this tropical fruit contains the enzyme papain, an effective natural digestive aid, which breaks down protein and cleanses the digestive tract. This means that less food is absorbed to become fat, making papaya's natural digestive properties a big help to those trying to lose weight. For a different way to eat papaya, mix it with chopped red onion and jalapeño, for a tasty and nutritious salsa! This has double fat-burning impact, inasmuch as jalapeño, like other chilli peppers, contains capsaicin, which speeds up the heart and metabolic rate.

Pineapple: contains the enzyme bromelain, which like papain helps digestion by breaking down proteins. It also contains manganese, which is important in the metabolism of amino acids, cholesterol and carbohydrates.

Watermelon: Because of its high water content (about 90%) and quantity of fibre, this fruit actually uses more energy to digest than it contains, making it very useful for dieters. It is also filling and contains various vitamins and minerals, and helps to eliminate bloating and water retention, so helping in weight loss.

Great article! I actually learned something new. I was sure that celery was the only food that had the property of having less calories than what it needed to be digested. I knew watermelon is recommended for diets, but this makes it even more appealing now! Oh, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the fact that you say that bananas are good for diets. Too many times I've heard that the number of calories in them make them a bad choice. Voted! I have a new article out, too: Tropical Weather Can Mean Greener Travel.
