Are You In For This Treat?

Are You In For This Treat?

I am not.

Want to know why?

This is a really sad fact but a reality of my life.

I was a non-vegetarian and loved what I ate. I came to know about this long after it happened and I was so shocked to know this.

Let me start from the beginning. I was in college when I first fell sick. I had this chronic fever that refused to go away. I took full courses of different antibiotics but nothing seemed to help. I had this situation for months before I resorted to alternative form of medicine and found relief.

It was last year, almost 6 years after the event when I came to know about the cause. It was because I was a non-vegetarian at that time. Animal farms feed antibiotics to their animals to keep them fit and reduce their net loss. If you have ever visited an animal farm you would know that these animals do not live in a healthy or hygienic environment. Improving the environment costs more money than feeding them non-therapeutic antibiotics. These also make the animals retain fat which makes their value shoot even higher in the market.

Surprisingly 80% of the antibiotics in the United States are used not by humans but farm animals, according to a FDA report. We do need to worry about the meat we eat just like we would do with the vegetables, fruits and other crops. With animals, quality control becomes more complicated. Do you know what you are consuming with your meal?

Due to this constant diet of unwanted antibiotics, your body becomes immune to them. So they do not work for you when you really need them. This is what happened to me. I suggest all non-vegetarians here to research further and think about it.
