Yes, it's been a while (again) since I last wrote. With our house being on the market and 5 little one running a muck around the house, trying to keep them entertained during the summer for me, is truly a pain in the butt! So I apologize because my lack of posting!
On a great note, I have to announce that I have 2 more vegetarians in my houshold! The story is because of the kids accidentally falling apon an aminal cruelty video I was watching (and because our house is busting at the seams, I don't have much privacy as of late.) But the video stopped 3 of them in their tracks and they pretty much watched the whole thing. By the time we got to the fish, the 3 boys were crying hating the mean people who were hurting the chicks, cows and pigs. My 6 year old who LOVES to thank the cows at our farm for the milk we get~really was traumatized by the scenes of cows getting their throates slashed~and even some falling to the ground in convulsions screaming from pain. I mean that was enough for me to push forward with Veaganism.
So after that video, the boys are crying and Brayden age 8 said, That's it! I'm not supporting those mean people anymore. I'm done eating meat.......he still has not eaten meat and it's been about 2 weeks now. JJ is 6 and he has decided that he can not eat Cows, Chickens, Chicks, and pigs. But he loves his talapia fillets so much that he can't give them up. I told him it's okay and that at least if he had to pick a meat to eat, it was the better one of them all.....he is still not eating "meat" which surprises me because he's 6 and I thought he'd fall off the wagon by now. But he's holding strong and doing what he believes in. He still needs guidence as they all do, but he needs it a bit more than others. LOL! D Said August 1st he is going to be vegetarian because he needs to get the last bit of meat eating out of his system. I told him it's better to just do it now, but I'm not going to force the issue. I just told him to let me know when he's done eating meat.
I guess all it took was a video to watch, so the kids could see the lack of compassion of those who work in animal slaughterhouses. Unfortunately they had to see it~as my friend put it, but, I guess this just validates that once my children actually saw for themselves WHY mommy wanted them to become vegetarian, then they wanted to do it by themselves. Now eating in my house is getting crazier and crazier then it was before. I'm thinking that since the 4 year old and 3 year old still don't really have an opinion~maybe just changing their diet now and when they are older they'll never know what they were missing. It's amazing how 1 video can change the lives of others.
